Excalibur[]

Recruitment (#1-3)[]

  • Published between: June 2007 - November 2007
  • Writer: Grantrs
  • Plot outline: Multimillion dollar Japanese firm Clan Yoshida teams up with the British Secret Services to create Excalibur, a superhero team comprised primarily of British and Japanese heroes. The first task for new mutant recruits Pete Wisdom (former intelligence agent) and Betsy Braddock (aristocratic thrill-seeker and former model) was to interview cousins Tom and Sean Cassidy, both known mutants and convicted criminals. For 17 years each has been imprisoned despite both claiming to have been set up by the other. It was Pete and Betsy's task to determine whether either was innocent and, if so, to negotiate the release and recruitment of the innocent cousin. It was then time for all six members of the team to meet each other and their new manager Matsu'o Tsurayaba.
  • First appearances: Pete Wisdom, Betsy Braddock, Shiro Yoshida, Sean Cassidy, Warlock, Yukio, Black Tom Cassidy, Matsu'o Tsurayaba, Tom Thompson, Mariko Yoshida, Magusi-san
  • Notes:

Excalibur/Exiles Crossover (#1-4)[]

  • Published between: May 2008 - May 2009
  • Writer: Grantrs & David McNamara
  • Plot outline: Excalibur travel to Portugal in the hope of reuniting Sean Cassidy and his daughter Theresa, who was born after he was imprisoned. On arrival they are confronted by Black Tom Cassidy again and the Exiles. Excalibur and the Exiles are forced to form an alliance as they both appear to be searching for this world's Theresa Rourke. Between Pete Wisdom and the Exiles' leader Angel they are able to extract from Tom Cassidy the knowledge that Theresa is being held by a religious cult called 'The Spineless Ones'. Even when the two teams combined reached the temple things didn't quite go to plan.
  • First appearances: The Spineless Ones (including Mojo, Shatterstar, Longshot and Theresa Rourke)
  • Deaths: Theresa Rourke
  • Notes: Co-plotted and co-written by David McNamara. This crossover arc appeared as a mini-series in its own right continuing from Excalibur #3 and Exiles #2. In Excalibur/Exiles #1 we see Warlock participating in an online game called 'Kvch' with another player called Cap, could this be the same Cap that appears in the pages of Nova?
